Pause For Fate

Because I could not pause for Fate,
It gently paused for me—
A carriage came, with passengers,
To escort me quietly.

The day was still, the sun sank low,
The fields in twilight gleamed—
We traveled past the golden hues,
Where dreams and hopes once streamed.

We passed the schoolyards filled with joy,
The children’s laughter bright,
Then whispered by the setting sun,
As day transformed to night.

The woods of deepening shadows,
Where secrets softly dwell,
The calm eternal awaited me,
In silence, I could tell.

We reached a house, a quiet place,
Its door ajar, serene;
I stepped inside, embracing peace,
Into the unseen dream.

For Fate, a gentle companion,
Had led me through this grace—
And though I could not pause for time,
I found my resting place.
