The Night We Met
I remember the night we wandered,
With shadows cloaked in a bitter haze,
Our laughter echoed through the stillness,
Yet time unraveled in so many ways.
The air was thick with unspoken words,
As the stars blinked in their distant glow,
I reached for a truth that slipped through my fingers,
A fleeting dream that I could not hold.
Your eyes held the weight of a thousand goodbyes,
Reflecting the pain of what we had lost,
We danced on the edge of a precipice,
Ignorant still of the heavy cost.
I long for the moments we lingered,
In the silence that wrapped us tight,
But now those memories haunt like a whisper,
In the cold embrace of the lonely night.
If only the dawn could erase our sorrow,
If only the darkness could fade away,
But time marches on, relentless and cruel,
As I search for the light amid shades of gray.
So here I stand, lost in the shadows,
Chasing a past that will never return,
For the night we met holds a heaviness,
A love that once flickered, but now will burn.
